SENSELF

Human movement has the power to express thoughts, emotions, and feelings.
But what happens when someone struggles to
understand their own emotions?
Can that really happen? And what other factors might interfere with
emotional awareness?

According to the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN), 1 in 10 people seeking emotional support are diagnosed with Alexithymia—a condition defined by the inability to recognise or identify emotions. This can have deep psychological, physical, and social impacts.
When emotions can’t be expressed verbally, the body often finds other ways—sometimes through
psychosomatic responses.

These challenges led to the development of SENSELF: an innovative therapeutic method that helps individuals with Alexithymia and similar conditions connect with and express their emotions in a safe, supportive setting.

SENSELF is an immersive therapeutic experience powered by machine learning. It is designed to help users understand the connection between body movement and emotional states—how emotions shape movement, and how movement can reveal emotion.

SENSELF is an immersive therapeutic system that integrates sensory feedback, machine learning, curated datasets, and movement-based therapy. It employs bodily movement as a primary interface for emotional insight and self-awareness.

Individuals interact directly with the interface, expressing thoughts verbally, following and giving instructions, and receiving feedback from the smart screen.

By using different types of input devices, the system captures the user's voice, movements, and uses that information to guide them and visually represent the emotional expressions of their body.

As a complementary tool, therapists receive the results and, with the support of machine learning and AI, interpret them—giving users the opportunity to connect feelings, emotions, movements, and thoughts.
